Are you all about global domination or are you skilled at sinking ships?

Would you rather frame someone (with the rope in a ballroom) or spend your time in jail (without passing go or collecting $200)?

Or, are you constantly in pursuit of all the right answers?

However you “game night,” ECH’s Game Night Live has something for you. It’s not like the trivia nights of yesteryear…it’s virtual, it’s interactive, and it’s a lot of fun. Expect engaging visual questions from pop culture categories. You’re better off binging Netflix than studying a history book for this trivia night.

Register your team today (you can even pay later). ECH employees can pay via payroll deduction. Gather your team in one location, two locations, three locations, or more – whatever makes the most sense for you.  Your team will be placed in a virtual room together to discuss (or argue about) answers. Check out our FAQs below to learn more.

Frequently Asked Questions

TECHNOLOGY

What technology do I need to participate in virtual trivia night?

Each person logging into the event needs a computer, smartphone, or tablet with internet access. You will also need an email address to receive the event link and instructions. For the best experience, connect your device to your TV so you can watch on a big screen.

Do I have to download any programs or apps to access the event?

The event will take place on Zoom. You do not have to download Zoom to your device to join this event; Zoom can be accessed directly through your web browser.  When it’s time for the event to start, simply click on the link that we send you to join the fun.  That being said, if you do not have the Zoom app on your device, the system may suggest you install it, though you can skip this step if you choose.

Do I have to have a webcam and a microphone set up to participate?

You do not have to have a webcam or a microphone to access the event, though that might take away from your overall virtual experience.  When you join the event, you will be able to see and hear the emcee, speakers, and questions on your screen.  But, part of the fun is being able to see and hear you too.  Also, your team will be put into a breakout room during each round to discuss (or debate) the answers.  Without a microphone or webcam, this would be challenging.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

How do I register and pay for a team or sponsorship?

You will register and pay on the same form, which can be accessed above. When registering, you can choose to pay now, or pay later.  If you choose to pay later, you will be able to access your reservation through a link included in your confirmation email.

Do I have to have eight people on my team?

Teams should consist of no more than eight (8) adult players, though you can play with fewer people if you wish.

Can my kids play? Do I have to pay for them to play?

It’s family game night, so we encourage you to have your children participate with you during the event.  Middle school-aged children and younger do not “officially” count toward your team total, so you do not have to pay for them.  High school-aged kids should be included in your team total.

Can my team pay individually for their tickets?

Yes, players on a team may pay separately. Please contact Stacey at 314-427-3755 ext. 231 or email skrieg@everychildshope.org to receive an adjusted payment link.

I’m an ECH employee, can I pay via Payroll Deduction?

ECH employees can pay for your team, or portion of a team, through Payroll Deduction. Please contact Stacey at 314-427-3755 ext. 231 or email skrieg@everychildshope.org to receive a Payroll Deduction form.

What does a VIP Team receive?

VIP teams receive the VIP treatment!  Each VIP team will receive a Game Night Snack Pack, a verbal shout-out during the event, and both “game cheats” per round.

What is a Game Night Snack Pack? How will I receive it?

Game Night Snack Packs are filled with yummy snacks, tempting treats, and goodies for your entire team.  Snack Packs can be delivered to your team captain’s home (within the St. Louis Metro area) or picked up at ECH the week before the event.  If your team is playing from multiple locations, the Snack Pack is easily dividable amongst your team members.

GAMEPLAY INFORMATION

Does my team have to meet virtually, or can we meet in person?

Your team can gather together in one location or log in from up to eight separate locations – whatever makes the most sense for your team. We must have an email address for every person logging into the system.

If my team meets in person, should more than one person log in to the event?

If multiple team members are watching from the same location, it’s beneficial to have each individual (or couple) log into the system on separate devices so everyone can participate in the raffle and other bonus contests and activities. It is important, though, to have others mute their devices to avoid feedback.

How do you play virtual trivia?

Virtual trivia night is a lot like in-person trivia night, but instead of gathering in a banquet hall, guests gather in a virtual chat room, and you will be able to see all the guests who have logged on.  Throughout the event, you will be able to see and hear the emcee and the question screen.

Each round begins with all participants together in the main room. All questions for that round are presented at one time.  Have a notebook handy to jot down your thoughts on each question as it is presented.

After all the questions have been presented for the round, your team will automatically be put into a breakout room to discuss answers.  It’s just like being in the same room.

Using a linked Google Doc, your team captain will type in your team’s answers and then submit them electronically.

Everyone will then be brought back into the main room, answers to the previous round will be revealed, and the next round will begin.

What type of questions will be asked?

Trivia night questions should be fun…not remind you of a history class you slept through in high school.  We have partnered with Trivia Riot to present fun visual questions from pop culture categories of music, movies, games, and more.

How many questions will there be? How long will the event last?

The event will last for approximately 2 to 2.5 hours, and there will be around 60 to 70 questions.  This is slightly shorter than our “traditional” in-person trivia nights. At the conclusion of the event, your team will continue to have access to your virtual chat room so you can continue to hang out as long as you would like.

Wouldn’t it be easy to cheat from home?

Yep, it would be easy to cheat from the comfort of your own couch…but don’t! Remember, this is an event to help the kids at Every Child’s Hope.  This is a fun event with fun questions and a fun crowd – it does not measure up to a final Jeopardy! round where you could win $1,004,960 with the right answers (and the right wager).

What are “game cheats”?

I thought you said we couldn’t cheat?!  OK, so the official “Game Cheats” don’t actually permit you to cheat! However, they can help improve your team’s success during gameplay. Game Cheats are sold by the team and include Mulligans and Either/Or’s for $25 each, or $40 for both.

How do Mulligans work?

What happens when you have no idea what the answer to a question is?  If your team purchased a set of Mulligans, you can write “Mulligan” as the answer and get the point for that question.  Think of it as a free answer per round. Your team can use one Mulligan for any question of your choosing per round.

How does Either/Or work?

Is your team stuck between two answers and cannot decide which one to write down? With Either/Or, write down both of the answers you think could be correct, and if either answer is correct, you get the point.  Think of it as two guesses for the price of one. For example, if you think the answer to the question is either Bob Hope or Betty White, write them both down with “either/or” in-between. If either of your answers are correct, you get the point. One Either/Or cheat can be used per round on the question of your choosing.

IN-KIND DONATIONS

What type of in-kind donations are you seeking?

We are looking for items that can be used as prizes, raffle items, entry gifts, or giveaways.  Items, both large and small, are welcomed. Recommended items include sports tickets or sports memorabilia; gift packages, cards, or certificates; travel or vacation packages; service or experience activities; big ticket items such as electronics, sporting equipment or appliances; or snacks/goodies for the VIP snack Packs. By donating items, you help us keep event costs down – which increases the impact the event has on our programs.  Also, all in-kind donors will receive recognition at the event. Also, donated items valued at $100 or over could be eligible for additional recognition/benefits (such as Round Sponsorship, comp tickets/teams, etc.  Call for details.

Are items tax deductible?

We will provide you with a receipt for your donation, and you can claim the fair market value of the items on your taxes.  If you have big-ticket items or a high value of multiple items to donate, we may be able to exchange them for a team or sponsorship at the tournament, though this may affect tax deductibility.

When are items needed?

Please let us know as soon as possible if you plan on making an in-kind item donation so that we are aware of it and can plan to use the item in the most meaningful way.  We would like all items in hand by Friday, April 22, 2022.  Items can be dropped off at the ECH Rock Road Campus, or call our office to arrange a pickup.

OTHER INFORMATION

What does an event sponsor receive?

The benefits of becoming a Game Night Event Sponsor include a VIP team of 8, an on-screen promotional slide, and a promo video. The promo will take the form of an interaction between your company designee and Mike Brennan, our CEO.  In most cases, the promo will be pre-recorded but will be played live during the event.  It will be tailored to highlight your business, your relationship with ECH, and our appreciation for your support.

What is a round sponsor?

There are two sponsorship opportunities per round. The first opportunity is during the question portion, and the second is during the answer portion.  Round sponsors receive an on-screen promotional slide and a verbal shout-out during the event. The promotional slide should be in the format of a PowerPoint slide or a PDF file.  Design and submit your promotional slide on your own, or we can design it for you.

Do I have to own a business to sponsor a round, or can I do it as an individual, family, or group?

Anyone can sponsor a round.  It works great to promote your business, but you could also use it to promote a group, announce a special occasion (like a birthday, anniversary, or gender reveal), we are even open to you proposing marriage to that special someone.

I have another question that was not addressed in this FAQ, what should I do?

We will frequently add and revise the information on this FAQ list.  However, if you have a question that has not been addressed, do not hesitate to reach out by email or phone.
